Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum’s split came as a shock to fans, but an insider says their breakup was a long time coming.

“Wedding plans were looming, but neither of them were rushing to the altar,” a source close to Tatum, 44, exclusively tells Us Weekly.

The insider adds that Kravitz and Tatum’s laid-back mindset ended up putting “a lot of pressure on them,” which made them “rethink” things.

The duo connected while filming Blink Twice in 2021. Tatum was the star of the psychological thriller, which marked Kravitz’s directorial debut. Two years later, the Magic Mike actor proposed. Blink Twice premiered in August, and Tatum and Kravitz, 35, promoted the film together, often gushing over one another during the press tour.

Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz’s Relationship Timeline

While they appeared to be couple goals, the insider says Kravitz and Tatum’s dynamic shifted once the tour was over.

“Ultimately once the project ended, they realized they were on different pages with what they wanted,” the source continues. “It fizzled fast after their press tour wrapped.”

Before her romance with Tatum, Kravitz was previously married to Karl Glusman. The former couple split in January 2021 after 18 months of marriage. Tatum, for his part, tied the knot with his Step Up costar Jenna Dewan in July 2009. The exes, who share 11-year-old daughter Everly, announced their separation in April 2018. Tatum and Dewan spent years in court settling their divorce, which was finalized in September.

“Zoë is a very independent person. After her divorce, she expressed that she didn’t necessarily need to get married again,” the source explains. “She and Channing are opposites, but they always bonded over their love for art and film, and that is what held them together. They realized long-term that it wasn’t going to work out.”

The insider shares that Tatum is a “family man” and “very involved with his daughter,” while Kravitz’s priority is on “her career.”

“They were looking at the long-term bigger picture and realized they may not be a good match,” the source says. “There is still a lot of love between them, and [the split] was amicable.”

Tatum’s reps and Kravitz’s reps did not respond to requests for comment.
