Tiffany Haddish has tried her hand at ballet in the past — but don’t expect to see her dancing on screen anytime soon.
“I auditioned for a ballet-style dance film and I did not get hired. But I also got kicked out of ballet class,” Haddish, 44, exclusively told Us Weekly at the NYC Ballet Fall Fashion Gala at Lincoln Center earlier this month.
And what was the reason she got kicked out? “For cussing. That s— hurts!” Haddish joked.
The incident happened when the Girls Trip actress was 27, and it led her to never go back to dancing ballet. Instead, she’d rather watch them.
“I go to ballet. I go to the recital just to, like, smite the teacher,” Haddish said.
Still, the comedian hasn’t let that one experience kill her interest in other kinds of dance — or ballet-inspired exercise.
“I do it at home alone all the time. I’m not good at it,” Haddish told Us. “I take barre classes. That’s my jam!”
In September, Haddish was front row at Monse’s spring 2025 runway show during New York Fashion Week. Sitting front row and mingling with her were Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Kathy Hilton and Coco Rocha. Haddish surprised fans when she got up from her seat to walk on the runway in a satin olive green Monse suit set with a deep-V neckline and wide-leg trousers.

“I’ve always loved fashion, and always wanted to be a part of it. My grandmother, back in the 1950s and 1960s, was a model,” Haddish told Us. “She was one of the first Black women to be on television in California modeling clothing.”
Haddish’s grandma passed on some of her best tips to her granddaughter, who has plenty of opportunities to use them now during her many red carpet appearances.
“She taught me certain ways you should stand,” the actress explained. “We didn’t have a whole lot of money, ’cause models back then weren’t making a whole lot of money. She taught me a lot about fashion and how to make clothes. I love making clothes and things like that. So, fashion is a part of who I am, and it’s how you express yourself.”
