Supernatural may be known for its ghosts, demons and brotherly bond — hi, Sam and Dean Winchester — but the longtime TV series, and its spinoffs, are actually responsible for a few major love stories.
Perhaps the biggest success story to come out of the Supernatural franchise in terms of romance is Jared Padalecki and his wife, Genevieve Padalecki. Jared, of course, played Sam Winchester for the show’s 15 seasons while Genevieve appeared in a recurring role as the demon Ruby for 12 episodes throughout the series’ run.
“I was very excited to meet her. Meanwhile, I think she was like, ‘Who is this long-haired A-hole who thinks he can come talk to me while I’m reading a book?’” Jared joked during a 2012 Supernatural panel. “I interrupted her while she was reading a book and I think she got kind of fussy about it.”
These two have a love story that’s lasted for more than a decade, but they’re not the only two Supernatural stars who found love with one of their costars:

Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Cortese
The pair met when Genevieve guest-starred on the series in 2008. By October of the following year, they were engaged. Jared and Genevieve got married in February 2010, and have since welcomed three kids together.
Their sons Thomas and Shepherd were born in March 2012 and December 2013, respectively. Their daughter Odette rounded out the family in March 2017.

Rob Benedict and Ruth Connell
Benedict and Connell played Chuck (spoiler alert, God) and Rowena, respectively, on the show. While the couple aren’t overly public with their romance, eagle-eyed fans started to question in 2020 if they were more than friends. Over the years they started posting more photos together on social media, confirming their romance.
In February 2024, Benedict and Connell announced they welcomed their first child together a month prior, a daughter named Margaret Vivian.
Benedict confirmed their engagement that October. “[We’re] getting a lot of love and support from my older children,” he told People at the time, referring to his daughter Audrey and son Calvin from his previous marriage. “We are very happy and looking forward to the adventure.”

Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger
The Supernatural spinoff series The Winchesters brought together Donnelly and Rodger, who played a young version of Mary and John Winchester in the 2023 show. She confirmed in February 2024 that they started dating after meeting on the show’s set.
“We’re not trying to hide it at all,” Donnelly said on “The Zach Sang Show” at the time. “I feel like on my last couple relationships it was very public, so now I’m kind of trying to keep it — not even private, because I’ll talk about it as much as possible because I love him so much. Just on social media in general, I like having that privacy, because putting it all out there it kind of becomes public too.”

DJ Qualls and Ty Olsson
Qualls played Garth in multiple seasons of Supernatural while Olsson appeared as Benny in 10 episodes from 2013 to 2019. While they didn’t cross paths on screen, the actors met at a fan convention and revealed in May 2024 that they were engaged.
“Ty and I became inseparable at the very beginning, just immediately,” Qualls revealed on his “Locked and Probably Loaded” podcast at the time. “And over the last 10 years our relationship evolved to what it is today, and now we’re getting married.”
